Im kinda new to cosplay too , (around 8 months tyvm) , but i srsly cant stand how new cosers treat cosplay like some game , totally not serious about it all all .___.

their wigs, can have like different colours extensions from the base , and their coses are inaccurate . The kind of only have top then the bottom anyhow chapalang grab one pants and put on.

Then, the most serious issue is.... the attitude. >>>ANYHOW CAN LIAO <<

Was actually referring to this cosplayer that just started cosplayer last month. She has been borrowing everything from a friend of mine. And she even wants to get her costume from me too =_=

And after borrowing it, she refuses to send it for dry-cleaning and the wigs she borrows become damn "cui" She doesn't want to learn how to do her own make up and there was a period of time where she would just wait for me to reach the event before begging me to do the make up for her which I had stopped doing. =_=

She doesn't even try to put in effort at all and only wants to walk around random crowd places in her cosplays, thinking that it is a MUST to cosplay and to cosplay different characters every single event.

I've not been around too long, and still not too into the scene, so can't be too accurate on this topic.

IMHO, I'm a firm believer in inventive new ways of cosplay, not just playing by the book, but still not trussing up to become cosf***. I've done the iSeb, which is my idea of juxtaposing technology and the Victorian anime but NOT sacrificing the most basic elements of the char, for example the wig the contact lens, and staying in character (making sure what stays on my iPad is relevant to the cosplay)

I dunno about everyone else, but I get sooo pissed when I see people cosplaying without contact lens just because "cannot find", or "no need" (NO NEED?!!).

Then there is the OC, the new excuse for "too lazy but nevermind", not saying the OC is bad (I have my own, and she's special and personal to me), but you put on any-old wig, wear your home clothes, and trope there, is just.. LAZY!

They tell people "oh, I cosplay", and whoop-de-doo, you turn up in that, and the public is gonna assume that's cosplay.

I take costuming as pretty serious business. I'm not a hardcore, far from it, but he'll, takes you months to hit that level of accuracy?

    Then hit it.
The iSeb is here, and READY TO ORDER.

Then tell her go bang head on a nail and quit cosplay.
I mean at least put in effort to acomplish something, be it makeup or costume making or prop making etc.

As for you other friend, tell her not to be such a pushover.
Tell her to scold that person if she tries to borrow and shoot her to go do it herself, sew or buy.

Drycleaning is not much of a problem, unless the costume is very obviously stained or its sooooo special that it can't be wash normally by hand or machine, must drycleam only~ =__ =

And finnally who say must different costume at every event? I've seen people that re-cos the same character at so many events in a row that i get lazy to even look at them... = 3=

Seriously....if people wanna borrow things from others. You'd expect them to take care of it, no? I loaned out a costume to my friend (not gonna say which one), she later sold my costume on SGC to pay for her latest costume. All she said was sorry, she had NO intention of buying me a new one or paying me money to buy another one. After that died down, she asked me to loan her sister my Miku wig, i was ok with that cos her sister was very responsible but then when she said her sister it meant her friend.(You know those stupid fake brother sister things?) When she returned it to me, it had food stains at the END. What i learned from this was NEVER LOAN MY STUFF OUT EVER AGAIN.

  12. Thanks to Bocchama for this useful post!

Actually you don't have to see all borrowers that way. Its more of if you dare to lend them for the first time to see what kind of person they are.

I got borrow and lent before, so far all that I've lent, all returned no prob and all that I borrowed I returned it washed, unless the owner told me not to wash cos he/she prefers to wash it himself/herself cos safer.
