ash - i am getting a DSLR soon. I am deciding between Canon EOS 400D and Nikon D70. Which you think is better ? What about pro-consumer/consumer Fujifilm F-30 ? Thanks.

    I realised Panasonic Lumix series flash rather weak. I have tried FX-6 , FX-7 n FX-8.

Just wanna share. I usually take night shots without using tripod, instead I use ''impro-pod''. Those electrical switch box, railings etc. of course , you might need to use a rubber matt under the camera body, if not it will get scratches.

Zermine > Depends on which system you want: it has always been Canon Vs Nikon systems. Canon 400D and Nikon D80 are the more current low end models. Both are alrite to use, you just need to read up more on the pro and cons of both systems. Refer to Dpreview, the link is in the 1st post.

Flash wise, best is to use DLSR rather than prosumer cameras

Tripod, better to get one. Railings are fine to use if they are stable. But you will hardly want to use railings on bridge to shoot fireworks... there's vibrations whenever someone hits the railings and u risk dropping into the river/sea. for cases which u wan to shoot on stable platforms.. using a bean bag as the base is a usual solution.

Woddie > Awww.. no worries.. come out shoot film with me.. I lend you my Nikon FE10?

Zermine > I din say anything about megepixels.. megapixels count is measured by the total number of pixels in your photo. For example, mine is 3008 length x 2000 pixels width, giving me a total of 6 million over pixels (megapixel)

neez > some people say it's the photographer behind the lens/camera.. but equipment do plays a part. The only thing the camera can't do is the composition. otherwise, exposure, focusing are pretty much automated.

woddie > what's there to lost at aperture and shutter speed? u juz need to know how they control your exposure will do liao...

aperture - small number means big hole to let more light in.. F2.8 is bigger than F5.6 or to F8. aperture controls dept of field..

shutter speed - the faster it is, the better it can freeze the motion.. the slower, the more bluring for moving objects.

ISO - controls the sensitively of the film to light..

Under bright sunlight usually use ISO 50 - 400
    Indoor usually 200 - 800
    Nite - usually around 400 - 1600
