Pokemon. I cried so much when I was young watching Ash releasing Butterfree and the pokemon movie when Pikachu cried.

FYI I have seen Clannad, Ano Hana and Angel Beats, but they never had that huge impact pokemon did.

Air and Angel Beats. But Air especially. Never cried so much over anime before that I dare not rewatch it. Q.Q

Clannad and Ano Hana. Angel Beats almost had me, but I was able to resist it because I already anticipated what would happen in the ending.

The girl who leapt through time. I know it's a movie, but it's the only thing that's gotten that kind of reaction from me
Everyone keeps saying Clannad, I've been meaning to watch that.. guess now's the time.

    Higurashi and Higurashi Kai.
Totally not mindless violence / blood&gore.
If you're looking to cry rivers over a good, solid anime, Higurashi.
The gore is just part of the storyline. It's more about learning to share your problems with people you can trust.
And as far as i can remember, only 5 episodes featured gory content.

I just recently watched Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and the story was actually really sad. It makes me think of how cruel some people can be, especially when that girl was turned into a chimera.

I knew Clannad would be the top listed, here! Clannad is also on my list.
Has anyone here seen Grave Of The Fireflies? The emotional pain makes my entire body ache. I've only seen it once and I couldn't bear to watch it again.

I've been meaning to watch Clannad, My friend is letting me borrow it tomorrow! For me, it would have to be Grave of the fireflies, It's a anime move but it's so very sad! I want to cry every time I see it! Higurashi has it's sad moments too.

How come I don't see Kanon 2006 on here? That anime had me laughing, crying, cringing, and smiling, sometimes all in the same episode! The story is also quite superb and well-crafted. The artwork is also very beautiful, especially since it revolves around the season of winter (I love winter).

If you guys haven't watched it, I HIGHLY recommend that you do! You won't regret it. This especially goes for those that watched and loved Clannad and Angel Beats - I believe the anime was created by the same company.

Having watched a ton of anime, I can't almost count those anime that made me cry, though if someone ask me that one tear jerking anime that I've seen in my whole life, Anohana always pops out on my mind, it's one of those "This series will live forever" on my list.

Only one scene made me cry of all the anime that I have watched. That scene is from Pokemon where Ash got turned into stone and all the other pokemons cried. I'm glad that nobody was with me. If my friends were there, they would have called me a sissy.

12 pages, so forgive me if there's duplicates, but the most tear-jerking anime for me was the movie 5 cm Per Second which was easily the saddest romance I've watched...Aside from that, Angel Beats was also quite a sad anime, and I've heard that Ano Hana is another sad anime, though I've yet to watch. Other runner ups would be the movies Bungaku Shoujo and Kumo no Mukou Yakusoku no Basho.
