Default Styling Gel: Which to use?

Hi, I'm new to cosplaying and not very sure about spiking wigs and stuff... Was wondering: Must we use a specific type of gel to style/spike our wigs or can we just use those that are commonly used (Used on human hair)?

    Thanks

Might I recommend Joico Ice Spiker styling wax? It's great for both real hair and wigs. It's a little pricy though and available only from salons.

there are specially formulated gel for wigs, taobao has it. the regular on-the-shelf gels in stores are not meant for wigs, they react to the protein in human hair for strength. gels are also not meant for spikes, especially the anti-gravity types, the water content within makes it heavy and "wilt" the spike.

i personally use gatsby styling clay, wax or hair spray.

Many recommend using Hair Spray and Hair Dryer to style Wigs to that Shaped Spikey Style. Spray-Shape-Hair Dryer-Pin/Hold Up REPEAT

Personally, I looking to use Hair Spiking Glue but never see it in Singapore and haven't got anyone to get it for me from US. Not worth ordering online as shipping cost usually ended up 2 times or more than the price of the item itself. *_*
