Default EVA foam VS Wooden splints - which is better for weapon props?

    HARROOOO!
So.. I'm running my remaining cosplay parts on a double-digit budget, and now i'm stuck with just claws left.
Claws. Not the wolverine kind. The ones that are about 35 cm each.
If i use EVA foam, i suck at heating it to be straight and..uh...erect.
And wooden splints are just...well..thick. Claws aren't a centimeter thick lol.
    Any advice?
    THANKS IN ADVANSHHHH

I'm thinking epoxy putty on wire, then sandpaper. Balsa would be better if you are thinking flat claws though.

curved claw from the way its described ?

sounds like blade-type claw that looks like arc curve with a 6mm thick blade

I know this sounds cheapo --- ice cream sticks that is 9mm wide, or those 18mm wide (used by doctors)

trim and glue in a arc pattern, 2 ply (9mm type) to 3 ply (18mm type) would be roughly the thickness of a blade (6 - 7mm thick)

a 35cm long blade should have no issue, since a 9mm wide type is typically 11cm long, 35cm is just about 4 sticks
alternated like a brick wall pattern, the 2 ply would support each other at the joint portion

18mm type is about 14 cm long (after trimming off the rounded ends to match the joining)

with proper glueing and epoxy to seal the joining weak points, the structure should be quite reasonably strong

sanding and pen-knifing to final shape might be needed...

curvature need to be done by having a form (typically a basin/ traced pattern on paper)
which the glueing is proceeded with the curved blade in mind, and the glueing inherited the curvature into the entire "claw"

I don't recommend aluminum tape/ whatever simillar foil thing for curved blade, since slightest movement will spoil the finishing
masking tape with chrome paint looks better as prop, as long as the blade dosent goes into a sheath

and UHU glue with clothing peg seems to make the structure well, white glue tend to wet the sticks too much and causes warp
    before the structure get dried

a rough idea of how a 6mm thick blade looks in proportion

the full blade is 96cm long, with a 70cm long blade and a 28cm handle (26cm tang),
which is roughly the limit of the the stick structure,
longer blade tend to flex too easily and are risk to snap even moving around
