Lol. I haven't uploaded new game videos of Touhou. So far, I only have 3. Here's one from IN. Though I have played up to TD, and I'm waiting for 13.5

Here's one from GIL playing PCB.
Touhou: Perfect Cherry Blossom; [GIL] Stage 6 - Lunatic

Basically it's a vertical danmaku shooter game. Though some games also do fighting genre. HRtP/Touhou 1 is actually the only different one from the bunch.

To be frank, there's no "official" anime of Touhou. ZUN never intended to have it be animated for "various" reasons, even though a lot of studios wants it. There are a lot of fanworks though, and impressively good. Surprisingly unlike any other fan-imes, Touhou is one of the most worked on details than any others that it seems like it's already was made by official studios.

Btw, Touhou...is not really a series. This is one reason why it can't be an anime. Each game is partially unrelated to one another, and this is highly noticeable with the PC-98 version in contrast with the Windows version. That's why ZUN prefers "Touhou Project", not "Touhou Series".

As for the characters...there's so many of them that it'll be better for you to just look onto these:

But I'll give you a rundown on two of the most used heroines...
Reimu Hakurei - the original heroine since Touhou: HRtP. She is a human that lives in the Hakurei Shrine(presumably), and she is the Shrine Maiden of Gensokyo in the Hakurei line, and is a Yokai Hunter. She is calm, carefree, straightforward, and a tad-bit lazy. Though she does takes her job seriously, which surprisingly and canon-ly she has never lost a fight. Amongst every character in the Touhou Universe, she is in fact the "True Neutral"(in D&D terms). She doesn't care about anyone at all in a way that she won't take sides. She just wants to get her job done even doing something unnecessary. She is not wholly evil, nor good, she is just one of the very few people that cannot be influenced at all. Though that doesn't mean she doesn't have a heart, it will still vary within reason. She is a person that doesn't hate anyone, but also doesn't "like-like" anyone.

Marisa Kirisame- the second heroine that first appeared in Touhou: SoEW, but became a playable character during Touhou: PoDD. She is also a human, that lives in the Forest of Magic. She claims to be the Ordinary Magician of Gensokyo. Her personality is rather confusing...she disagrees with others, yet she is friendly. She is confident, straightforward, and will always get to anywhere that has trouble due to her curiosity. She is also a Yokai Hunter, but unlike Reimu, she doesn't do it 'cause it's her "job". Opposite to Reimu, she is very hardworking. In fact she is the most "humane" amongst every human characters(IMO). Unlike Reimu who was born with natural prowess, she doesn't have any real powers, instead she trains to get them. A yokai magician will take time to learn magic, and that is double the time for human magicians. It shows that Marisa, is really just an ordinary human. Surprisingly, she is my "favorite character", 'cause of this she tends to copies certain spells and attacks from other magicians/yokai/characters, makes and puts it in her own Grimoire containing every spell she has learned and copied. Eg. Master Spark and Non-Directional Laser.

Take note: This are all canon descriptions in my view. Fanon will be very different(eg. Reimu is poor, and needs "donations". Marisa keeps "stealing" books.)...if you noticed however, those fanon ideas originated from canon. Try to figure out what and why.
