culture is a way of life yes ?
Yeps, I'm for open discussion. What's your take on people who claim to ascribe to a certain culture, yet know nothing about it; or don't even bother to take the effort to learn about it?
Loliantas, gawths, ponks - you've seen them everywhere. Maybe I'm a purist, but "dressing up" does not a culture make. Damnit, learn to appreciate and act like a member of whatever culture you claim to be.
Gah.

culture is a way of life yes ?
size does matter!
So.. what's ur problem? You don't like posers?
Lemme tell u.. there's not much of modern culture in Singapore.. I'm not saying that there's no culture.. but there is very little, at least in terms of influence. Remember.. modern culture..
Why? Maybe its because the government was focusing on the bread and butter after we gained independence, which is the reason why Singapore is advancing well in its infrastructure and economy. And I wouldn't want to be proud of speaking singlish, wearing sandals and singlets, acting like an ah beng.
Look around you, the culture of today's youth (mind u i didnt do my research): Gaming? All that talk about Halo 3, xbox 360, Ragnarok 2, DOTA.. none of it comes from singapore.. they come from USA, South Korea.. Blockbuster movies? Very few movies come from Singapore, most come from USA.. Manga.. anime.. cosplay..? Yep, all from Japan.. fashion? lolita.. punk.. goth.. some from USA.. some from Japan.. some from korea.. here and there..
So you shouldn't criticise today's culture.. whether its goths on the street.. or cosplayers.. but what's wrong with accepting different culture?
Singapore's a cosmopolitan... no?
Besides, i'd pretty much be culturally dead if all the culture i followed was Singapore's unique culture

blahblahblah. Not another one. lol, like seriously have you got nothing to do?
er, god, i can't even see what you're typing!!! O_O;;;
*sighs* =________=;;;
Americans being japanese lulz weaboos!
since troll bitch doctor is indirectly saying that he "Knows everything about, Punks, Lolitas, and Goths"
why dont you just go start a school for Loliantas, gawths and ponks then on how to "act",unless your'e just a aimless person who enjoys wasting his life complaining about things that are too minor for people to care about
Maybe they might win an oscar for you next time if they act well enough
If youre so pissed about something, go do something about it, why dont you tell them in their face? Instead of posting here. Scared of the conseqences?
What can they do? Beat you up? Kill you?
I dont think thats possible
If you dont like them, what can you possibly do? Kill them all?
Ignore them, if you can't ignore them, then your mind is weak because you are simply easily provoked by people practising "Pop-culture".
Look at Otakus and Weeboos, what difference is there to what youre referering as "culture" now.
You cant DESTROY a culture. unless you nuke every city in a country.
Live with it, you cant do anything because youre too insignificant in this world

think what TS is trying to say is that he/she does not appreaciate the fact that people call themself punk/goth/emo/cosplay or whatever you can think of merely with physical dressing up. in addition, they do not fully embrace the full meaning of whichever "culture" they have chose to adopt as they have not done their research in terms of the being more into it. for example, someone who is cosplaying as card captor sakura doesn't only just put on the wig and clothes and call herself a cosplayer. instead, she should also look into her personality, accessories and even unique actions or speech.
@TS: can't expect everyone to be a perfectionist like yourself. just accept the fact that not everyone are into a certain culture enough to fully be into it but rather only take up certain characteristics.
Never quarral with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

アジアン カンフー ジェネレション!
to some of the ppl who posted above, you can't blame a person for complaining when this is the complaint section right?
and I think he was just complaining about people not knowing nor learning about their own culture
I lol'd at how you managed to squeeze in something about the government.
To OP, I guess that's just how it is. There are some who do, and most who don't. Not like you're gonna get any sort of reasonable discussion going though. On a side note, I discovered there are punk brand-names. :O
So, troll bitch doctor, this is the 21st century and no one cares whether you're a purist or not. No use vehemently objecting to something that's really none of your business. We like how we dress and we dress how we like. Have a good night brooding over things like that.
...
What's your problem?![]()
bah... why everyone is shooting him?
i kind agree with him on that actually
although i dun dress up or anything
but i agree on the wearing clothes that are loli or aristocrat does not mean goth
think he wanted to say that GOTH is not what u wear or how u look.. its not fashion at all.. its a CULTURE or rather a SUBCULTURE~~~ but wearing those clothes does not mean 'goth'
anyways~ still.. i agree that u should just ignore those ppl ah~ let them do what they like though.. we have no say in their lives
Materia~ Omochi kaeri~~
Apparently people do not like to read properly and jump the gun. Let's see if they like to read summarised points instead.
1. People who claim to be of a culture. Any (pop) culture, be it goth, punk, loli.
2. Posers. Literally. They claim to be of a culture but know nothing of it, nor bother to read up nor learn anything of it either to further enforce their belonging to the culture.
3. One does not buy a ready-made-dress from [Insert name of any popular cult label], put it on, and claim to be from that culture. Question to ponder for this point:
- A law-abiding obedient girl off the street who knows nuts about punk culture and ideals goes off to get a full perfect punk set and wears it, then proclaims loudly she is a punk. Is she?
4. Refer to point 2.
